About the Gardens:
Tom and Lynn’s garden tells a 45-year story that began when five large trees came down and a vision took root. This once-simple city lot is now a charming, layered retreat, with brick and stone walkways—crafted by their own hands—guiding visitors through ever-changing color and texture. Their beloved geraniums, carefully stored each winter and revived each spring, return in glorious bloom year after year. A peaceful shade garden with a bench offers a quiet pause along the way. More than the plants or paths, it is the shared passion and love between Tom and Lynn that truly brings this garden to life
On a quiet corner of the city, Lisa tends her garden like an artist bringing a canvas to life—patiently and with clear vision. Over eight years, a simple lot has become a series of living scenes: a peaceful zen nook with swaying grasses, a Buddha, and a gentle chair swing; and a cottage garden stretching across the back, filled with drifts of flowers and soft textures in bloom. Gardening is her passion—her creative outlet and ongoing masterpiece. And at day’s end, you’ll often find Lisa and her husband Chad on the front porch, sharing a beverage, conversation, and a quiet appreciation for the beautiful canvas she continues to create.
Over the past four years, Joel and Vicky have transformed a blank slate into a breathtaking, thoughtfully designed garden—a true showpiece of care and craftsmanship. Joel led the way as the ultimate hands-on contractor, digging 236 holes, moving stone, and even designing his own watering system. Together, they filled 30 pots with vibrant annuals, planted unique trees and shrubs and maintain a spotless, manicured lawn, handpicking even the smallest weeds. Their shared passion shines through in every detail, creating a grand garden that is both beautiful and inspiring.
Lisa & Phil have lived here for 12 years, and this year their front yard is red, white and blue, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
Lisa has combined her love of painting and gardening into a tapestry of what she calls her “painted garden”. Youl will see painted birdhouses, a barn quilt, and sunflowers on her garden shed.
But her pride and joy is her military garden, which she created to show support to her son, who dedicated 7 years to the Navy. There’s a sailor statue and an eagle, with the Pledge of Allegiance recently painted. Blue Angel and Praying Hands hostas were planted to keep the military theme.
Garden Grove is a beautiful and tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of the Evergreen campus. A gentle, babbling brook winds its way through the landscape, eventually flowing into a serene koi pond, creating a continuous soothing presence of moving water. Throughout the seasons, the garden comes alive with an abundance of annuals and perennials, offering a rich tapestry of color, texture, and fragrance.
Herman & Sharon Schatz, residents of Evergreen, maintain their own garden on the shores of Sawyer Creek on the eastern edge of the Evergreen campus, blooming with lilies and veggies in raised beds.
Just south of the parking lot, you’ll discover 30 raised garden beds, each lovingly maintained by Evergreen residents. This vibrant space showcases a variety of vegetables, flowers, and even a dedicated rose garden, creating a beautiful and colorful area to explore.
