This exhibition presents more than two dozen photographs and a selection of paintings by renowned Wisconsin artist Tom Uttech. A highlight of the exhibition is Uttech's large-scale masterwork, Nin Gassinsibingwe (I Wipe My Tears).
Inspired by his countless pilgrimages deep into the woods of northern Minnesota and the Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada, Uttech’s paintings have been described as Magic Realism, depicting a world where real and imaginary flora and fauna exist in a fantastical universe.
The photographs and paintings come from the collection of the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, the leading institution dedicated to preserving and presenting the work of the state’s artists.
Tom Uttech: One With Nature is presented February 11–May 21, 2023 in the Main Gallery.
