Every city is filled with love stories: the places where people meet, date, fall in love, make memories, and even get married. Some people spend entire lives in cities and others transplant for school or work, never anticipating to stay, yet something tugs to keep them there. Oshkosh is one of those places for Mark and I.
Our Oshkosh love story began before either of us even knew there would be one. We met in 2015 when we were classmates in Leadership Oshkosh, a program offered by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce to bring together a cohort of up-and-coming leaders in the community to take a deeper dive into civic engagement. Through that year, we became friends well before dating was ever in the cards for the two of us. Then, about three and a half years ago we began dating and finding new ways to enjoy the city we love.
Our love of Oshkosh has brought us a unique opportunity to share some of the great things that make Oshkosh… dateable. Whether it is in a group of friends or a couple, romantic or otherwise.
Flights Wine & Cocktail Club
One of the things that we like to do is to “reward ourselves” with something fun in between the necessities of errands and chores. Recently, one of those mid-afternoon stops was a great wine bar, Flights Wine and Cocktail Club. A warm and inviting place to grab a glass of wine, especially on a rainy afternoon. Andrea, the owner, has curated a nice selection of red and white wines, by the glass or bottle, with flight features that frequently change. The staff are knowledgeable about wines and offer a great suggestion for trying something new.
There are options for non-wine fans to enjoy as well - if you like Old Fashioneds, give the old fashioned flight a whirl. Love charcuterie? You can build your own board with a variety of cheese, spreads, bread, meat and other fun extras! They source local items for their menu like Thunderbird Bakery Bread and Oaks Chocolates.
