Before we started dating Mark & I made a list of patios that we could enjoy around Oshkosh in the summer time. As we started dating that list expanded to include restaurants and other places that we wanted to enjoy as a couple. The list leaned heavily into the Supper Club scene around the State of Wisconsin, because we now had a partner in crime to explore with. Then somewhere along the way Supper Club Saturday was created with another duo in our friend group, and every so often we find ourselves with a double date night on the calendar to try a new supper club somewhere in the state for old fashies, catching up, and a great meal.

Supper Club Saturday at Anchor and Port
An opportunity presented itself to experience a Supper Club Saturday at Anchor & Port, the restaurant in the new Downtown Oshkosh Marriott Waterfront Hotel, and we could not pass up the chance to create a double-date night with our close friends to enjoy this new experience together! If you have not been to the new hotel, it really has gotten a beautiful “glow up.” As you walk through the lobby, you are immediately drawn to a very large and welcoming bar area. The wine list is approachable and cocktails are very well made.
We didn’t know what to expect, other than what was posted on the facebook event listing: relish tray, soup, salad, prime rib and dessert - it was enough to make sure it got a spot on our calendar! As a group with limited food dislikes, there weren’t any food restrictions we needed to ask to accommodate. From beginning to end, the Anchor & Port really got the Supper Club vibe right! We all left the restaurant full (with some leftovers for later), and thrilled to have had such a great experience!
Supper Club Vibes Done RIGHT!
The relish tray was a really nice start our meal with a generous platter of both raw and pickled vegetables with a dip. Follow that with a scratch made french onion soup (that was not lacking on actual caramelized onions!), and smothered in melted cheese. The salad was a simple chop salad topped with blue cheese and lightly tossed in french dressing.
Time for the Mains!
All of this was a perfect lead in to the main course: A queen cut prime rib, perfectly cooked mid-rare with a side of creamy horseradish sauce for dipping. To complement there were the usual sides: asparagus, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes. It was all delicious. One tip, though - save room for desert. We had the choice of creme brulee cheesecake or key lime pie. Being who we are, we got one of each!
As our entrees arrived, they were accompanied by a visit from Chef Vince. He’s new to the area, (moved here from Texas, to be closer to his Grandma in Milwaukee) but we could tell he was excited to show Oshkosh what he and the Anchor & Port were capable of. He was genuine in his hope that we enjoyed our dinner, and you could tell he was very proud of this Saturday night concept.
There are only two upcoming Supper Club Saturday events left in December, the 6th and the 20th, so if you are looking for a delicious evening out, get there!
