Long before Mark and I crossed paths, music was the constant background track to both of our lives. Once we began dating, one of our favorite adventures became blending our distinct tastes into a singular soundtrack of live music. If you are looking for a way to break the ice—especially in a new relationship—a concert is the ultimate low-pressure date. It gives you a vibrant, shared experience to dance to and laugh about, completely lifting the burden of making endless small talk.

Waterfest in Oshkosh

Living in an area like Oshkosh with such an active music scene is a huge perk, and Waterfest stands out for us as our “can’t miss” summer activity. It ticks every single box for a perfect night out. For starters, it is incredibly accessible and budget-friendly, meaning you get to see national touring acts and fantastic local openers without breaking the bank.

The venue itself lets you customize your evening; you can lounge peacefully on the grass or opt for the upgraded VIP section to get right in front of the stage. No matter where you stand, the acoustics at the Leach Amphitheater are consistently excellent. But what truly seals the deal for a romantic date night is the setting. Watching the sunset paint the sky over the Fox River creates an instant, cozy romance vibe. Plus, since it is situated right next to downtown, you can easily turn the concert into a full evening by hitting up one of the many fantastic local restaurants beforehand.

Catch Dinner Before Rocking Out!

Our date night to Waterfest included dinner at Gabe’s Kitchen + Tavern and we relived the 2000’s soundtrack of our lives with Vertical Horizon. Everything about the night was exactly what we needed and it was a great way to start the weekend out early for us!
